Welcome to 5th Grade ELA!

This school year will mark my 12th year of teaching, and my 6th year teaching at East Elementary. Being a teacher is the most rewarding job in the world, and I can not wait to begin our year together! 

I grew up in Hartselle, AL and attended Brewer High School. I graduated from Athens State University with my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education. I also have my Master's Degree in Elementary Education from the University of West Alabama. 

My two children, Addison and Cole, keep me busy! We enjoy Alabama football and basketball games, Atlanta Braves baseball, going to the lake, beach, or pool, playing with our dog, Roxy, and our cat, Cookie.

My hope is that you will love learning as much as I do. From the words of Benjamin Franklin, "Tell me and I forget. Teach me and I remember. Involve me and I learn." We will explore academic areas with curiosity, inquiry, investigations, and hands-on learning experiences. I am so excited to share my love of reading, writing, and learning with you!
