State Department of Education Standard Application Webpage
NOTE: The Cullman City Board of Education will no longer accept paper applications. Individuals who wish to apply for certified and/or support/classified positions with Cullman City Schools will need to complete the application for employment online with the Teach in Alabama electronic filing system.
Substitute Teacher Applicants:
CCS provides a Substitute Teacher Training Module to be completed prior to submitting an application packet to the Human Resources Department. That module can be found on this page.

• Current Alabama Teacher Certificate or proof of eligibility to obtain Alabama Certification
• Official transcripts from all universities and colleges attended, graduate and undergraduate

Support Staff and Non-Certified Employees/Classified
(Custodial, Maintenance, Bookkeepers, Secretarial/Clerical, Transportation, Food Services, Instructional Assistants/Aides, and Technology positions)

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent
• Appropriate transcripts if applicable

Step 1: Completed in the appropriate job interest category above
Step 2: Screening - Online applications and resumes are reviewed to determine the most qualified candidates for certified and classified current positions available.
Step 3: Interviews
Applicants will be scheduled for interviews by the school system. Interviews may be conducted by principals and/or central office personnel. A number of applicants will be interviewed for any vacancies.
All newly hired employees of Cullman City Schools must pass a background check prior to beginning employment.

• Transcripts from all universities and colleges attended, graduate and undergraduate, in a sealed envelope (if applying for certified position)
• Original Social Security Card
• Original Driver’s License Prior to any recommendation for employment, an applicant must have on file a completed application with all required documents.

RE: Cullman High School Substitute Teaching
Hours
- 7:45 - 3:15 (Full Day)
- 7:45 - 11:30 (Half Day)
- 11:30 - 3:15 (Half Day
- Substitutes are required to be on campus for the entire time they have agreed to work. Substitutes may not arrive late or leave early. In the event of an emergency or unforeseen circumstance, please contact administration.
Clock-in/Clock-out
- You should not clock-in earlier than 7:35 when subbing during the morning or a full day.
- You should not clock-in earlier than 11:20 if subbing an afternoon half day.
- You should clock out no later than 3:20 on a full or afternoon half day
- You should clock out no later than 11:40 on a morning half day
Student Supervision
- Help supervise students by standing at the classroom door between classes.
- Cover any assigned supervision duties assigned to the teacher you are subbing for. (This will be provided by the classroom teacher and is attached)
- Substitutes may not leave during teachers’ prep period and may be asked to cover other classes during the day when other teachers are unable to find a sub.
- Students should not be allowed to leave the classroom without a valid reason.
- Students who leave the room should sign out using the digital hall pass on a
Chromebook. Students should also carry a hall pass with them. (No more than one student should leave the room at a time.)
Student Sickness
- Students should report to the nurses office if they are feeling ill.
- The school nurse will verify illness and contact parents.
Student Behavior Expectations
- Students are to be respectful and compliant at all times. Please notify the office immediately of any issues that arise in your class.
- Please notify a surrounding teacher or the office if a student is observed displaying unacceptable behavior.
Cell Phone Policy
- Do not allow students to use cell phones during the class period.
- Students are expected to have cell phones turned off during the instructional day unless they have obtained the permission of a faculty member. Family members needing to contact a student during the school day may email students on their school issued Chromebooks or you may call the school receptionist at 256-734-3923 or email the school receptionist at k.jackson@cullmancats.net. Any student using a cell phone during class will be notified with an office referral. Students notified of their non-compliance with an office referral will be sanctioned according to progressive sanctions.
Emergency Plan
- Substitutes should be aware of the Crisis Response Plan for their assigned classroom.
- If you are unsure, please ask other teachers in your area or check with the office.
Lunch Procedures
- Students are not allowed to remain in the classroom during their assigned lunch period.
- Substitutes are not required to cover the lunchroom during their lunch period.
