Bearcat News Network

  • Cullman High School has its own broadcast network team.  These students participate in all aspects of broadcast production. The Cullman High School Broadcast Network (a.k.a., Bearcat News Network or BNN) is a student driven multimedia team which produces Bearcat News features as well as delivering live streams and video on demand of CHS academic and extracurricular events, including theater productions, scholarship signings, sporting events, student meetings, graduation, pageants, and school board and community meetings via their partnership with the National Federation of High School Sports Network (NFHS).

CHSBN not only broadcasts for Cullman High School, but also broadcasts for the Alabama High School Athletic Association.

During the 1st Round football playoff game between Ramsay and Cullman, CHSBN incorporated live drone shots for the first time during the game.

This year CHSBN was selected to broadcast the the Briarwood Christian vs.  St. Clair County semi-final football game, which was one of the most watched semi-final playoff games in the AHSAA.

CHSBN was just selected to broadcast the AHSAA state final bowling championships at Pelham. This will be the first time in the history of this newly sanctioned sport that the finals will be broadcast.
The team will also broadcast the Northwest Regional basketball finals at WSCC, the 1A-3A state track meet in Cullman, and the state soccer championships in Huntsville.

CHSBN has just recently started live Facebook and live YouTube broadcasts, which will compliment their NFHS broadcasts.

  • NFHS Elite School logo  The Bearcat News Network was named an Elite School for 2018. Elite schools are the best of the best when it comes to producing, broadcasting, promoting and covering their school’s activities. On average, Elite schools produced over 100 events across an average of seven different sports.  Elite Schools distinguished themselves as leaders among the 1,700+ schools involved in the School Broadcast Program.

This was the Bearcat News Network's second Elite ranking in two years. This recognition would not have been possible without the support of CHS and CCS administrators and, most especially, the hard working students who were members of the Bearcat News Network.
