The Cullman cross country teams competed in the Alabama High School Athletic Association’s State meet Saturday in Oakville and were able to walk away with top ten spots in the very competitive 6A classification.
In the men’s competition Kyle Norris (pictured 3
rd far right) led the Bearcats to a fifth place finished while earning a spot on the podium and All State Team with a 3rd place individual finish in the time of 16:09. The team average was 17:39 with top finishers including Tucker Franey - 17:40, Joey Franklin - 17:42, Walker Caretti - 18:15, Tucker Adkison - 18:29, Will Kress - 18:35, and Colton Smith - 19:27.
In the AHSAA female 6A classification the Bearcats placed 9th compiling a team average of 22:01. Senior Marisa Franklin led the team with a time of 21:23, followed by Lexy Sivley - 21:32, Kendall Adkison -22:06, Hillary Crider - 22:08, Anna Franklin - 22:54, Jillian Richard - 22:54 and Elli Dixon - 23:32.
Across the state the top sixteen teams that qualified at sectional competitions were invited to the state meet. The Bearcat runners and head coaches Trent Dean and Kristen Barnett are to be congratulated for an outstanding season and top ten finish during the 2014 cross country season.
