We will soon begin the registration process for the Cullman City Schools PALS (Playing and Learning Side By Side) Program for the 2017-2018 school year. This is an inclusive preschool program for 3 and 4 year olds with and without disabilities. The program emphasizes learning through a play-based, child–initiated approach. Daily activities are based on Alabama State Department of Education Preschool Standards. Program hours are from 8:00 a.m. to 2:40 p.m. Children should be picked up by 2:40 p.m. each day; however, children are allowed to attend extended day until 3:30 p.m. for a charge. The fee per month to participate in PALS is $250 ($125 per month for the children of full time CCS employees). There are up to three spots available for children without disabilities for the 2017 - 2018 school year. For students who receive special education services, the IEP team will determine if placement in this program is needed to meet the special needs of each child. The IEP team may determine another environment is a more appropriate setting for the child to receive special education services. Children may continue to receive services in the PALS classroom until they are eligible for kindergarten.
Parents of typically developing preschool children may begin the application process utilizing on-line registration through this webpage beginning February 27th, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. through Monday, March 13, 2017 at 4:00 p.m. Applications will be emailed to registrants at the close of the registration window. Completed applications must be returned to the Student Services office within one week of the date they are emailed to the parents in order to be considered. Incomplete applications will not be considered. Waiting lists are not maintained from year to year. A new application must be submitted annually. Parents will be notified whether or not their child has been accepted after their child's completed application is reviewed.
